Let’s Talk about a Miracle

Please note that some of the companies and timelines are specific to the United States as I have not done complete research into specifics worldwide. This is, after all, a blog posting, not a research paper. The gist of it is still the same regardless of the specifics of a given area.

Generally in the modern world we are not accustomed to thinking of anything being a miracle are we? Let us face it, we do not expect to see changing water into wine or raising the dead. And, the vast majority of people are justifiably suspect of faith healers.

But I am going to tell you about a miracle that I have witnessed. And so have you!

To the Timeline (dates are rough):

  • Late 2019 – Wu Han, China: an outbreak of a new virus that affects the respiratory system, often causing death is first identified. And it started spreading. It was later classified as COVID-19.
  • Despite initial claims that it was not that bad or it was a hoax, it started to spread around the world relatively quickly.
  • By March, 2020 the United States generally went into lock-down with Shelter in Place, wearing face masks, and social distancing in an attempt to ride it out. It continued to spread in no small part because of necessary activities caused to spread and, let us face it, many people unwilling to support these guidelines.
  • Now here is the miracle part:
    • Several pharmaceutical companies started to work on a vaccine. In the United States the most notable ones were Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson.
    • By December of 2020 vaccines from Pfizer were developed, tested, given emergency approval, manufactured and in the arms of the frontline healthcare workers and the most vulnerable. Moderna and Johnson & Johnson soon followed. (I do not dismiss other vaccine manufacturers in other parts the world, I am just unfamiliar with them).
    • By late spring 2021, anyone who wanted a vaccine short in the United States could have one because there was a sufficient supply being produced. In fact, the United States was distributing millions of doses to other countries.
    • By August, 2021. Pfizer has gotten FULL FDA approval for its vaccine in record time, following all of the FDA’s rigorous protocols. Moderna is expected to follow soon.

Now that cannot happen, but it did. Even with the head start that the scientist said they had because they were working on similar types of viruses, it takes longer than this just to figure it out. Let alone refine the product, test it, manufacture and distribute it in the hundreds of millions of doses.

Call it what you want, but I will call it a miracle and I defy anyone to challenge this.
